Gocek is a small coastal village that we all pass close by on our way to and from Dalaman. It is situated at the Fethiyé end of the tunnel and, if you glance through the trees to your right you'll catch glimpse of it as it teases you on your onward journey.

You can, of course, get a dolmus to Gocek any day of the week, so why is Sunday so special? Well, it's special because that's the day when there are several boat trips from Fethiyé/Oludeniz to the Sunday market in Gocek. It's not a big market and it's not just the market that draws people Sunday after Sunday. It's Gocek itself.

Broadcaster Michael Buerk posted My Kind of Town in the Telegraph Travel online here

Read this and tell me you won't be making a Sunday boat trip to Gocek sometime this summer.

And . . . one of the bonuses of a boat trip to Gocek is it could be completely free! Tour companies frequently throw in Gocek as a freebie if you purchase two or more boat trips. Now that is a bargain! There are several companies to choose from and you might or might not have your own favourite. I do, but no matter who you pick I am sure you'll enjoy this popular Sunday day out.
