Welcome to hisaronu - the village

Viewed from the mountainside

Hisaronu. It's more than just a village in the Babadag mountains between the coastal town of Fethiyé and the Lagoon of Olu Deniz - it's the holiday destination for many who enjoy Turkish hospitality and hot, sunny weather. It's a holiday in which the village becomes all things to all people. Where else can people of all ages have a holiday together yet each do their own thing - all in one place?

Hisaronu is an eclectic mix of bars, restaurants, clubs, shops and accommodation to suit all types and tastes. Add to these the Turkish people's friendly nature and you've got the ideal holiday. There are hundreds of hotels and private villa and apartment rentals to be had, either within the village itself or the surrounding Ovacik area - properties to suit all pockets.

In the daytime you can relax by the pool with a glass or two of cold Efes beer; or you can go down to Olu Deniz and its world famous lagoon and spend the day chilling out at Sugar Beach or other, lagoon-side bars and restaurants.

Or, if you feel more adventurous you could visit the ghost village, Kaya, an entire village vacated by the Greeks decades ago and now a village full of ruins and beauty.

Or, have some 'retail therapy' and mooch around the many shops on your doorstep.

Or you could go into Fethiyé old town and do some sightseeing along the harbour.

Nighttime - a time for eating and drinking

At night you can dine in one of the dozens of excellent restaurants catering for every taste imaginable: Turkish - Chinese - Indian, and if you can't do without your fix of home you can dine at Codswallop on the tastiest, freshest haddock, chips and real mushy peas!

And, after you've dined on whatever takes your fancy you can spend the remainder of the evening until the early hours in any bar you choose. If it's music you want, you've got it; if it's chilling out want, you've got it.

In fact, why not try a few - there's plenty to choose from.

One local 'sight' that is a must are the two markets: Monday in the village and Tuesday in Fethiyé.

In both you'll find a range of goods that you'll never find at home and all sold to shouts of, "Cheaper than Asda" and "Cheaper than shoplifting" as vendors vie for your business.

From tee-shirts to tea pots, handbags to hand-tools; or artichokes to zucchinis. Everything and anything you can think of . . .  almost!

Your idyllic home from home

Over the years many of those who went for a holiday in the village have become residents, and have made Turkey their new home.

Development companies offer a staggering range of properties, from villas to apartments.

Either in the village itself, or on the mountainside of Babadag, or in Ovacik or Olu Deniz, there are many properties to purchase or rent; all budgets catered for.
